Magnetic Skincare

Testing a Magnetic Face Mask?

If you're a make-up and skincare lover like I am, odds are that you’ve sat in awe and watched the cool demonstrations of the magnetic face masks on YouTube. Magnetic face masks have become extremely popular all over YouTube and look like they are magic. Do they actually work or is it just an attention grabber?
I will be testing the mask below, that you can find at your local Sephora.
The instructions suggest to use the mask 1-2 times weekly, to clean skin in the morning or evening.
When I watched some of the demonstrations on YouTube of people applying the mask and having issues spreading it on their face, I thought that wouldn't happen to me. But, this product does not apply easily at all. It’s very thick and when you try to apply it, it tries to lift up in areas it was already applied to as you spread it out. Honestly, there’s nothing else that I can compare this to. It was definetly an experience. It doesn't apply evenly, and I honestly had to use a large amount of the tube to cover my whole face, it looks like I can only get one more use out of the $75 tube.

I left the mask on around 15 minutes which is actually longer than the time listed on the instructions.   When it was time to take the mask off, I put the tool up to my face, and the mask immediately started jumping off of my face and onto the magnet. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
I had to clean off the magnet several times before being able to get my entire face clean. It was very time consuming, and a huge mess!

After removing the visible magnetic mask from the face, it leaves behind this soft, silky, oil-like residue that you rub into your face. I haven’t felt any type of oil like this before to compare it to. It wasn't heavy or uncomfortable feeling, just hydrating and felt like I was at my own spa. It took almost three hours for the oil to soak into my face, so if I were you trying out this mask I would give yourself plenty of time!

Final Impression: Would I repurchase?

Is this mask a gimmick or does it do what it claims?

The experience of the mask is honestly pretty cool. It smells like the spa, and it feels great applying it to the face as well as after taking it off. However, I honestly don’t believe it's worth $75 due to the amount of product you get in the tube, the mess it causes, and it generally just being over hyped. There’s only enough product in the jar for approximately 2 or 3 uses at max. Contrast that to the GlamGlow mask that I reviewed on my blog last week, I usually get almost 10 uses out of a regular sized GlamGlow mask container at a similar, if even cheaper price point.

I didn’t notice any significant results that made me believe it did something for my skin. Although my skin felt soft and nice immediately after removing the mask, that usually happens with any mask, even a $3 drugstore one. It isn't hard to find those same results with a mask no where near the price of this one. With my go-to face masks, even the cheaper ones, I notice a healthy looking glow to my skin afterwards but with this one I noticed nothing.

I believe we’re seeing this mask as well as other masks that are magnetic, rise in popularity because of the gimmicky magnet. I also have questions about the ingredients in this mask. It makes me wonder how healthy it could possibly be to apply something to the face that is magnetic. I usually like to see a list of ingredients that are known to achieve results. But these ingredients I've never heard of, nor want to put on my face regularly.

All in all, I defineitly wont be repurchasing this mask and I also don’t recommend. If you’re on a budget and have high hopes for this mask to do wonders, it doesn't.

5 Tips for Packing Make-Up

Here are my tips for packing make up as lightly as a girl can! I hope you enjoy!
  • Invest in a sufficient cosmetic bag. Whether it’s cheap or a splurge, look for a bag that will keep your makeup organized! Look for one that has a divider with several little compartments! There’s nothing more frustrating than digging around for makeup so find one that’s portable and easy. Here’s the one I have, it looks small but it surprisingly fits just about everything I need!
  • Find the perfect eyeshadow palette that suits you. I usually stick to neutral shades when it comes to eye shadow, so a compact palette like this is always my go-to, and has every shade I would need in one palette.
  • Stick to one foundation. Foundations are usually the biggest space killer out of everything. Trust me you do not need to bring all five of your favorites. Just one will do, I promise. You should choose one that has SPF, and is oil free for travel, especially if you're going somewhere warm. I usually like to bring a BB or CC cream on foundation so it acts as my moisturizer, sunscreen, and gives me a little coverage all in one. This will also help you cut down on the amount of products you bring.
  • Narrow your lip products down. I usually only bring two with me when I travel. A bold color, and my favorite nude color. Realistically when you're traveling, you don't need 50 lipsticks, glosses, and liners. It's just not convenient or necessary. Save room where you can! My favorite bold lipstick is this one and my favorite nude choice is this one
  • Lastly, bring what you know works. It just isn't smart to bring new make up when you are traveling, I've done this and I always regret not having my products that I know work the best for me. Make sure you test a product for at least a week before you bring it, or you might end up buying more make up for no reason! It's smart to take this advice when packing skin products as well. Not to mention the fact a new product can break your skin out!
Let me know what you think of my tips and comment below if you have any that work the best for you!

Jaclyn Hill's Wikipedia Page

Hi guys! I thought I’d share with you a Wikipedia post that I decided to change. It wasn’t updated on her recent collaboration. Jaclyn Hill, who is a huge beauty guru and YouTube star. I’m sure if you love watching makeup tutorials, you have heard of Jaclyn Hill. She had one of the best-selling highlights in the world with her collaboration with Becca Cosmetics, and she’s been on YouTube for almost 6 years now. Wikipedia didn’t update the “make-up artist" section for her new collaboration with Morphe Cosmetics that came out this June. Below is before I altered it, and directly under that is my revised version. You can also visit the page here.

Make-up artist
Hill started her YouTube channel back in 2011.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] She has a collaboration with Becca Cosmetics, and produced a highlighter for them named "Champagne Pop". The collaboration is referred to as Becca x Jaclyn Hill.[14] Together they created the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection which includes highlighter shades.[15] In 2015, Jaclyn Hill collaborated with Morphe Cosmetics to create an eyeshadow palette containing her favorite products. [16]

[16] She collaborated with Morphe again, but this time created the palette which was released in June 2017. [17]
I thought this needed to be added considering how big the collaboration was. It’s been sold out ever since it was released. I watch her videos frequently, I know how important this collaboration was for her. I also added and clarified that she created this palette. Her previous Morphe collaboration was just her choosing the eye-shadows that were her favorite on their website but had no form of production or creation, which is a lot different. Her first collaboration took her a couple days to put together, whereas the recent collaboration took almost two years to conduct. I thought this was a significant change to make regarding her story and success. I thought this was the perfect time to write this blog post, because her Morphe palette was restocked today! You can buy it here if you are interested, but I would hurry because it's a popular item!

Glam Glow Clearing Treatment Product Review

When it comes to the beauty world, there's certain items to splurge on. In my opinion, skincare should come before make up. If your skin isn't at it's best, no matter how much money you spend on make up it won't fix what's underneath. I chose to review the Glam Glow face masks because of what it claims to do to your skin. You can get this product in stores or online at Sephora. From someone who has tried countless of skincare products and is constantly disappointed, I thought I would give this one a go. For $69 you can buy one of their extremely coveted face masks that are loved by so many. Although this is pricey, I wasn't completely against splurging because I know how important it is to find that one skincare product that actually works. I've come to learn that sometimes it's worth the splurge. Not only has my skin started to clear up from starting to use the Gravity Mud Clearing Treatment face mask, but I've seen a noticeable difference involving the smoothness, brightness, and most importantly I've seen a decrease of any texture I had before. I had always been skeptical about this product because of the hype around it, but I'm glad I gave it a try since it has really did transform my skin.I used it twice a week for five weeks and will continue to use it now that I see it making a noticeable difference. Besides the mask, I made sure to keep up my regular skin care regimen so I could accurately test out the ability of this particular product. I hope this review inspires you to test it out too! Just remember, every skin type is different. Just because something works for my skin type doesn't mean it will work for you. That being said, I have a tip before you go and purchase the pricey bottle. Sephora allows you to choose three free samples of any product in the store each time you visit. Sephora doesn't promote or advertise this perk, but it's true. Whenever I'm curious about a product but don't want to splurge on something that might not live up to its claims, I would suggest dropping by your nearest Sephora to grab some samples! When it comes to sampling products Sephora is very generous with the amount, but if you still aren't happy you can always get three of the same product sampled! I hope this review helped anyone who was considering buying or even just sampling the Glam Glow Clearing Treatment!

Shopping in the Men's Department

 Unisex Shopping

Many people believe women should stick to shopping in the women's section, and men should stick to shopping in the men's section. But in reality, there are no rules when it comes to fashion, and sometimes men's clothing looks better on women than it does on men. Ever since I was a young girl I was always stealing my brother's clothes and finding my style. Whether it was his old Levi jeans I would cut up into shorts, or his white pajama t-shirts I would dress up in different ways to look appropriate. There are plenty of men's staple items that all women should try out. For me, jackets are my go-to men's item I need in my wardrobe. Leather, denim, bomber, and the list goes on. Most men's items will run a little bigger, and longer. When it comes to jackets, oversized is whats currently trending, which is perfect for unisex shopping. Shopping for your next jacket in the men's section will effortlessly make your outfit trendier just by the fit of the coat on it's own. Another way to fit a men's essential in your wardrobe is through ties. If you're working like me, I'm always trying to figure out how to make my corporate style edgy and not so bland. Adding in a small men's tie to your blouse is an easy way to make your outfit pop. These are just some examples of men's items that women can pull of, the truth is you can really make any men's item work! Unisex shopping won't be for everyone, but I hope this post makes some of you try it out!

The High Line

One of NYC's must see spots is The High Line. Located on the West Side of Manhattan, almost everyone I know who has walked The High Line has fell in love with it. What used to be an abandoned freight train trestle is now a beautiful and very popular public park for everyone to enjoy. The High Line is one of my favorite activities for a nice NYC day. One of the reasons I keep returning to walk The High Line is that it lets you experience a peaceful version of city life (which is pretty rare to find). Walking the streets of NYC is different, everyone is in a rush. On The High Line, everyone is there for the same reason, which is to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It's never easy figuring out an outfit, but for this occasion comfort is essential considering The High Line is a mile and a half long. Since there are no rules with fashion, I always pair a cute outfit with sneakers for walking The High Line. I hope this post motivates you to check out this unique elevated park!

Welcome to Margaux's Closet

Hi guys! I'm currently a Social Media Marketing intern in New York City for Movado Group Inc. As you can see in the picture, I also help out with some of the photography that is used for their Instagram page. I can't wait to incorporate Movado into this fashion and lifestyle blog, because their pieces really go with my overall style.(Not Sponsored) Being in New York City is exciting, but it can be a too much at times. I can't wait to share my favorite spots and tips for when you're feeling a little suffocated from the craziness. I've always been passionate about fashion, which is why I intern for a retail company. I've always devoted so much of my time towards fashion and styling my own outfits, which is why I'm excited to hopefully help others when it comes to that constant struggle of not knowing what to wear. I hope this blog inspires you to get creative and to step outside of the box when it comes to your own style! There are no rules when it comes to fashion, so just be yourself!
